March is Youth Art Month, and Wiesbaden Middle School is celebrating in full color! Throughout the month, students have embraced their artistic talents with engaging activities, competitions, and school art displays, as always.

The school common areas have come alive with hand-painted banners celebrating the arts—each one highlighting visual art, music, and drama. These decorations serve as a vibrant reminder of the impact that creative expression has on our students and school culture.

Adding to the excitement, students took their creativity outdoors with chalk drawings inspired by spring and showcasing the imagination and talent of our young artists.

To encourage students to challenge themselves artistically, Wiesbaden Middle School is offering multiple art contests, including:
🎨 Our School’s WildCat Week Art Competition – A chance for students to showcase their cat-inspired artwork in a pop-up gallery. Deadline is March 26th  April 8 to turn the art pieces into the Art Room.
🏛️ The Smithsonian American Art Museum/DoDEA Art Contest – Encouraging students to engage with art and be inspired by the theme of Five Senses. Deadline is April 10th. Talk to Mrs. Schwartz about details.
🌍 The 2025 ARTEFFECT International Art Competition – Open to middle and high school students, this competition is not connected to our school system, but is an option for our Middle School artists to compete on an international level. This competition challenges young artists to explore themes of Unsung Heroes. Contact Mrs. Schwartz, for more details or check out https://www.lowellmilkencenter.org/competitions/arteffect for specifics. Deadline is April 27, 2025.

Through these activities, Wiesbaden Middle School is reinforcing the importance of art in education and providing students with opportunities to express themselves, build confidence, and engage with the larger artistic community.

As Youth Art Month continues, we look forward to seeing even more creative expressions from our talented students!
