8th Grade — A Great First Week!

We are off to a fantastic start in 8th grade! Our students have spent their first week getting to know their teachers, reconnecting with classmates, establishing classroom routines, and beginning to build the teamwork and sense of community that we hope to carry throughout the school year.

Across the 8th-grade team, our goal is to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to take an active role in their learning. We have been very pleased with the positive attitudes, enthusiasm, and cooperation our students have demonstrated during these first few days.

In science, students jumped right into hands-on learning with the Rainbow Lab. Working with partners, they practiced accurately measuring liquid volume, following multi-step procedures, collecting data, using laboratory equipment safely, and identifying possible sources of human error. The activity also emphasized an important scientific principle: experiments should be reproducible, which requires careful measurements and procedures.

As you can see in the photos, students were actively working together, communicating, problem-solving, and learning from one another. These are skills we want to reinforce not only in science, but throughout their 8th-grade experience.

As an 8th-grade team, we look forward to working together—and with our families—to help our students have a successful and memorable final year of middle school. There will be challenges, plenty of learning, and hopefully quite a bit of fun along the way!
